Oral Surgery

Both are done by professionals licensed to perform surgeries for dental issues, and there is some overlap between a dentist and an oral surgeon. However, there are slight differences. A surgeon generally performs more serious procedures and may require a different facility or equipment. At Royston Dental Care, we have a high-tech, dedicated surgery suite to offer our patients the best care.

While oral surgery can be quite a serious procedure and may include multiple parts of your mouth, gums, or jaws, it is quite comfortable. All procedures are performed with either local or general anaesthesia to ensure your comfort. We also offer conscious sedation to patients who may be nervous about undergoing oral procedures. If you have any questions before your oral surgery, please ask one of our highly-trained clinicians or staff members.

For minor procedures done under local anaesthesia, you can leave the clinic and immediately resume normal activities, with some slight discomfort expected. For larger procedures or oral surgery done under general anaesthesia, you may need to stay at the clinic to recover. We will ask you to arrange post-op transportation before your surgery. Your Specialist may also recommend 1-2 days of rest until you can resume normal activities.

It’s important that you always follow all post-procedure instructions about eating, drinking, brushing, and more to ensure the fastest recovery possible.
