Saumya Sharma

Saumya completed her postgraduate training in Periodontology and Oral Implantology from India in 2008 with honours and completed her MFDS RCPS (Glas.) while still pursuing her postgraduate degree in 2007. She moved to the U.K. in 2010 and has since worked in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) at various centres of repute, which include Peterborough, Cambridge and Luton. Saumya has over 14 years of surgical experience. As a Registrar in OMFS for 7 years, she has performed surgical dental extractions, surgical exposures of impacted teeth for orthodontic treatment, apicectomies, pre-prosthetic surgery, soft tissue biopsies as well as resection and reconstruction of skin cancers. Her surgical repertoire includes maxillofacial trauma management, salivary gland and orthognathic surgery. Saumya also possesses extensive experience in the management of oro-facial pain and TMJ disorders. She has trained in Laser surgery and has completed the SAAD course for conscious sedation.

Saumya’s periodontal repertoire includes, apicectomies for failed RCTs, frenectomy, crown lengthening, non-surgical and surgical periodontal therapy with or without bone grafts and guided tissue regeneration and mucogingival/aesthetic periodontal surgery. She is a member of the British Society of Periodontology (BSP).

Saumya has conducted extensive research during her postgraduate training and holds an International Patent on “CoQ10- A novel local drug delivery system”.

Saumya believes that the patient comes first. Striving for excellence in order to achieve optimum and holistic care for her patients is her primary consideration. Providing quality care with a sound scientific understanding and an emphasis on human relations is how she summarizes her vocation.
